Fleet Vehicle Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining company light and heavy company vehicles, trailers and motorized equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance work on company tractors, trailers, vehicles and help maintain preventive maintenance service programs including tire rotation and oil changes.
Performs other minor repairs on trucks and trailers.
Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop.
Collaborates with other technicians to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs.
Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks.
Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles.
Picks up truck parts when needed.
Engages in cleaning the shop and keeping equipment and tools in a well-organized manner.
Complies with all local, state and federal standards of maintenance and vehicle safety.
Assists Shop leader in maintaining and repairing shop building and surrounding grounds
Pressure wash equipment as needed
Ensure all safety standards are met and followed to the fullest. Must be alert at all times and use best judgement.
Ensure that all work areas are maintained by keeping sweeping, dusting, and debris removal

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma & diesel technical school; 3 – 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Commercial Driver’s License
Brake Inspector Certification
Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as maintenance guides, computer diagnostics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure – using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Must have a basic understanding of computer operations and diagnostics.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals and outside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
