Position Summary:
The Senior Electrician is responsible for performing basic and high-level electrical work on buildings, equipment, machinery, and industrial systems in a safe and compliant manner at all company locations. This position works independently to design, build, test, & repair VFD, PLC and other electrical circuits and components to improve efficiency and functions. The primary responsibilities are electrical in nature but may also include instrumentation, automated process control, mechanical repairs, and plumbing.
Key Responsibilities:
Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.
Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables
Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints
Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses findings with other maintenance staff to diagnose malfunction.
Replaces faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices, using hand tools.
Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance tasks, performance testing of electrical equipment & control systems
Installation of electrical components, control circuits, breaker panels, light circuits, and motor power
Required Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read manuals, prints, sketches, schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, and schematic drawings
Strong competency using hand tools, power tools, and electrical & electronic test equipment
Computer literate experienced in Windows applications. Communications network experience
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and customer oriented
Experience documenting work through PMs and Work Orders
Ability to respond to emergencies with a sense of urgency and work under pressure
Ability & willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours & shifts based on business needs. Standby duty may also be required.
Must be able to distinguish the colors of green and red
Must maintain a valid NC driver’s license while meeting insurance requirements
Education, Experience:
Journeyman electrical license in North Carolina, Master’s electrical license in North Carolina is preferred
7 years’ experience in electrical maintenance
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas. Each area varies in temperature, odor and other environment specific atmospheres. This position also requires the incumbent to work in tight spaces, lift heavy objects up to XX pounds and frequently bend, climb, stoop, reach, walk, and crawl.
