Meet Irineo Gorostieta
Braswell Family Spotlight
This week, we’d like to introduce you to Irineo Gorostieta, or Eddie as most call him around the farm. Eddie works on our maintenance team on our farm and distribution site, just North of Nashville, NC. He likes working with everyone and ensuring everything is running smoothly.
Eddie began his career at Braswell Family Farms 15 years ago and that’s exactly what it was - the beginning of his career! His older brother worked on the farm and told him about the opportunity. Eddie says he couldn’t have picked a better first job.
In his free time, you can find Eddie at the gym. His friends there even make him banana pudding with Braswell Family Farms eggs, which is his favorite dessert.
In honor of Eddie, we're sharing our family recipe for Classic Warm Banana Pudding:
1 cup sugar
2 Eggland's Best Eggs
3 tablespoons flour
1 and half teaspoon of vanilla flavoring
1 can of evaporated milk
1 box of vanilla wafers
3 ripe bananas, sliced
Mix the sugar, eggs, flour, vanilla, and evaporated milk in a blender and cook on low heat until thickened. Stir continuously to prevent sticking or scorching.
Place vanilla wafers in the bottom of a casserole dish and layer with sliced bananas and pudding mixture. Repeat this twice or until you run out of ingredients.
Let the pudding settle for about 10 minutes then dig in!
On May 18, Eddie participated in the Victory Ride to Cure Cancer with Braswell Family Farms. We followed up about what the ride meant to him:
Q: Why did you decide to ride?
A: My wife lost her mother from cancer and I felt like it was a good opportunity to help others.
Q: Are you riding in memory or honor of anyone?
A: My mother-in-law
Q: Do you plan to ride next year? If so, what distance?
A: Yes! I would like to ride again next year and am going to try to ride 60 miles as long as I am healthy.
Q: What was your favorite part about riding?
A: My favorite part was hearing from different people about the how Victory Ride has helped them.
